P.E. you hit the nail right on the head when telling what it is like being raised in this cult. As a born-in it was harder for me but my wife was a convert and was able to go back to her real self. She guided me through many things I did not know or understand about the world. It was the distrust of others and to learn just because I just meant someone they was not a friend. Friendship is something one needs to work on. I am so thankful my wife and I left together. She my teacher to becoming my authentic self. Whatever that is. LOL. Still Totally ADD

Who has a harder time leaving JW's - Born Ins or those who converted?
by HeyLittleGirl inmy freind (who is also out) and i were talking about this the other night.
i was a born-in, 3rd generation jw and she converted when she was in her late 20's.. when she left, she said that she knew the world wasn't as bad as she was told as a jw, so she knew she would be fine.
also, she still had lots of "worldly" family who welcomed her back with open arms.. it was harder for me - i had nobody in the "world", no family or freinds.

So a executive from a large company was amazed how the WT was able to accomplish all that he saw with free help/volunteers.
He was amazed because he was most likely thinking how can he get away with that at his company. That is if that really happen. Still Totally ADD

I was 4 years old in 1958 and I was there. I remember all the people and everyday I would bug my parents to sit down on the grass field. I also got to ride a camel at the Bronx zoo. We went to the museum of natural history and I got to see the large dinosaur skeleton. My parents drove us from central IL to NY city for that convention. My dad took the cult hook, line and sinker. Do They Still do Door-to-Door as Much as Before?
by cofty insince the advent of the trolleys do the majority of jws still go door to door like we used to?.
do they still have meetings for field service on sat mornings and sun afternoons where most head off to the local territory while one or two go to do trolley work or has the importance of door to door work reduced?.
with the reduction of printing wts and awakes what will they offer at the doors?.

That's a good question. We moved to a new-old house back at the end of January this year. We found out about 3 months later we was only 2 blocks from a KH. You would think every other week they would be knocking at our door. Not one yet, Zero, Narda. Working for our local bus system I only saw witnesses once and they was working a cart in down town Jamestown. This is a double hall mind you. You would think we would get at lease a pamphlet in our door. It appears maybe not as much. Still Totally ADD

The flood account. How could the mountains arisen to the height they are now. I forgot how many hundred's of feet they had to rise each day. That seismic motion happening all over the earth would have rip this planet apart. After considering that thought I ask myself if the WT is wrong on this what else are they wrong on. Now that I am stuck at home healing from surgery I find myself on here several times a day. Before my surgery I would go for days if not weeks. I feel this site has changed or I have changed. I don't know which. Sometimes I can go for several days without thinking about my pass in the cult but times come I can't keep my mind off of it. I think Simon told me one time I will never fully get over I I have been through. At the time that comment hit me like a ton of bricks. I now understand what he meant.
It's a growing process coming out of a lifetime in a cult and I feel it will take the rest of my lifetime to work on myself. Don't get me wrong I am 1000 times better than I was when I left but there will always be things I will need to work on. Yes I will most likely keep coming back here for a little encouragement Fromm time to time. Still Totally ADD

LisaRose thank you for your experience. I see why there is such a problem with them. Glad you was able to stop using them. We are also cat people. I know what you mean, cats do have feelings. I was always told we do not own cats,. Cats own us. Take care
Zeb my advice is if you can live with your back problem with exercise and can manage your pain keep doing that. I did for 10 years before I finally had to take care of it. Walking and climbing stairs is my thing now. Drinks lot's of water and above all hug my wife as often as I can. Take care

Sail away when first got Morgan it was not with the idea in helping me with my PTSD. As time went on I discovered what was going on after waking up from a nightmare that Morgan was still asleep. I took that as everything is OK. It was a situation we both grew into. I was just lucky to discover it. Still Totally ADD

My baby girl aka Morgan is a black lab. We rescue her when she was 6 months old. She is now 12 1/2 years old. She is starting to show her age but she is healthy and still active. We also have a white poodle. Weighs about 10 lbs. Her name is peaches and is also 12 1/2 years old. She is also active but like Morgan is showing her age. We have had her since she was 6 months old.
I was so surprise when I came home from the hospital how much they missed me. Don't ever tell me dogs don't have emotions. We both really love them. Still Totally ADD

Scratchme thank you for the wishes.
Diana so sorry to hear about your sister. I can only vaguely relate to that. All I know it it scary stuff. Let me know how your treatment is working. I to suffer with PTSD. I use a service dog. It really help me when I would wake up in the middle of the night sweating and my heart going thousand miles a hour. I stop and think if my baby girl was not barking and jumping around it was only a nightmare. Now days this only happens once in a blue moon where before every night. Good luck to and take care.
